Ryujin Onsen Ranked In the World Top 10

American travel publishing company “Budget Travel” announced the ranking of the top 10 “BEST PLACES YOU’VE NEVER HEARD OF” in 2008. Tanabe City’s Ryujin Onsen was the only Asian representative.We are very honored by the fact that Ryujin Onsen was picked out of numerous tourist spots around the world.The number of accesses to their website is 1.5 million hits per month.Ryujin Onsen is already famous for being one of the top three beautifying Onsen waters in Japan, but we are thrilled that now Ryujin Onsen has finally been recognized at an international level.Please come and experience the isolated atmosphere of one of the best places in the world that you have never heard of…..but, I guess now you are in the know!

World Heritage Youth Forum in Kumano

On August 23rd from 17:00~18:30 the World Heritage Youth Forum was held in Oyunohara, the focal point of the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage routes,in celebration of the upcoming 5th year anniversary celebration of the UNESCO World Heritage registration of the property “Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range”.

Brad Towle, Tanabe City Kumano Tourism Bureau’s International Tourism Promotion and Development director, was a member of the panel discussion which covered topics such as the preservation of World Heritage, world peace and harmony.

After the panel discussion a performance by local students about the Buddhist saint Ippen Shonin and his connection with Kumano took place.
