Their final destination was Kawayu Onsen where one can make their own personal natural onsen by digging in the riverbed. They were very impressed with the unique possibilities of blending Onsen culture and summer activities in the crystal clear river. The photographer captured many images at this natural wonder.
Reporters from the Belgium Weekly Newspaper “Le Vif Le’xpress”, (100,000 copies daily) visited Tanabe to write a feature arictle on the Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range World Heritage sites and Onsens. It was a pleasure for our Bureau to guide them during their visit.
During their visit to Kumano Hongu Taisha, they received a large amount of information to help them understand the faith in Kumano, the history of nature worship, and details about the local Kumano Kodo pilgrimage routes which are registered as UNESCO world heritage. They listened intensely to the priest’s explanation about the Kumano Hongu Taisha, the concept of Japanese polytheism, and the manifestation theory in Japanese religion.
