US Travel Agent Kansai FAM Trip

The 2009 US Travel Agent Kansai FAM Trip, sponsored by Kansai Unity, took place from November 16~27. This FAM trip was a part of our two year Kansai promotion project, which includes a variety of groups both public and private groups throughout the Kansai region. Three tour companies from California joined this inspection visit.
The Tanabe City Kumano Tourism Bureau planned and led the Kumano portion of the tour. It was a busy schedule but went smoothly, and the response from the agents was extremely positive. They were very interested to obtain high quality information about off the beaten track areas of Japan.

Day 1:
l Bocu restaurant in Nakahechi for a delicious Macrobiotic lunch.
l Hosshinmon-oji along the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage route

l Overnight at Yunomine Onsen

Day 2:
l Kumano River boating experienced
l Daimonzaka section of the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage route

l Kumano Nachi Taisha, Seiganto-ji Temple, Nachi Waterfall

l Overnight in Katsuura

Thank you to Kansai Unity for organizing this worthwhile promotion project and to the tour agents that joined the FAM trip.

Manseiro Ryokan has joined the Kumano Travel community!

Manseiro Ryokan is a located on the edge of Katsuura Bay across from the tourist pier, within walking distance of the Kii-Katsuura station.  The building itself is older but the atmosphere is friendly and comfortable.  The traditional Japanese Kaiseki meals, with a focus on fresh local products, is a highlight of a stay at Manseiro.  There are both Japanese and Western style rooms.  There are hot spring baths in the facility, but guests can also take the ferry across to the neighboring Hotel Urashima and soak there for free, including the famous Bokido onsen cave bath overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
