JTB Culture Exchange Award - Excellence Prize

Tanabe City Kumano Tourism Bureau was awarded the JTB Culture Exchange Award- Excellence Prize.

JTB Culture Exchange Award is an essay contest regarding “Local Promotion Nation-Wide” and “Creating Opportunities for Exchange”.
The title was “Tanabe’s International Efforts, Towards a Friendly Destination for Foreign Tourists”.
Mr. Urano, our Bureau chief, said, “There were many strong applications and I’m really glad that we were chosen for the Excellence Prize. Thank you very much to not only the Bureau’s staff, but the agents, media and organizations, which support our initiatives towards creating a foreigner friendly tourist destination”.
Thank you so much to those who have shared our philosophy and worked together with. We look forward to your future support and cooperation.

The Daily Yomiuri interviews Tanabe City Kumano Tourism Bureau

On January 15th, a journalist from “The Daily Yomiuri” visited our area to interview the Tanabe City Kumano Tourism Bureau.

The Daily Yomiuri” is published by Yomiuri Shimbun and is the largest English-language daily newspaper in Japan. 

The reporter interviewed Urano, our Bureau chief, and Brad, our International Tourism Promotion and Development Director, regarding our communication workshops for local lodgings, bus companies, and others connected with the tourism industry.  Our bureau’s history and philosophy was also covered.

TV Tokyo’s “World Business Satellite” covers Tanabe City Kumano Tourism Bureau

This year is the last year for the “Visit Japan Campaign”, a federal government program to attract foreign tourists to Japan.

Relating to this, the efforts of the Tanabe City Kumano Tourism Bureau will be covered on TV Tokyo’s economic news program “World Business Satellite”.

TV Tokyo’s “Lady’s 4” Filming in Kumano

Filming of TV Tokyo’s program “Lady’s 4” recently took place in TanabeCity and Totsukawa-muraVillage, NaraPrefecture from January 1st to 4th.
The production crew was very concentrated in their efforts filming over 500 hours of film in 4 days.The program will introduce the UNESCO World Heritage Kumano Kodo pilgrimage routes and onsenarea.

The broadcast date is January 8th, and is planned to be aired nationwide on 16 stations.
