Yomiuri Shimbun interviews Tanabe City Kumano Tourism Bureau

On July 23rd, a journalist from the Yomiuri Shimbun interviewed the Tanabe City Kumano Tourism Bureau.

The article will feature the 3 tourist spots nationwide, both established and emerging, that are popular among foreign tourists in Japan. Tanabe City will be featured as one of these destinations. 
The article will be appeared in “Keizai-Zenkokubin”, economic article in Yomiuri Shimbun on September 4th 2010.

National Governors’ Association Pre-symposium Panel Discussion

On July 14th, a panel discussion during the pre-symposium of the National Governors’ Association Meeting took place in Wakayama City. The Tanabe City Kumano Tourism Bureau Director, Noriko Tada, was a guest speaker at the event.
Members of the panel discussion were the Kanagawa prefectural governor, Wakayama prefectural governor, Ganko foods’ CEO, and the Tanabe City Kumano Tourism Bureau Director. The president of Organization of Kansai Unity was the coordinator. They exchanged opinions regarding the meaning of Organization of Kansai Unity and local development.
Noriko Tada spoke about our bureau’s initiatives, the future of our Destination Management Company and the role of local guides. She highlighted the importance of multi-level coordination at the public and private level, local area development needs, establishing an online reservation system to meet the needs of the changing travel industry, and the importance of local guides.

Travel Journal Magazine Interviews Brad Towle

The Japan's weekly Travel Journal, a specialized tourism business magazine, visited the Tanabe City Kumano Tourism Bureau today to interview Brad Towle, the International Tourism Promotion and Development Director for the region.

It was a 1.5 hour interview covering the history and initiatives of our bureau. They were especially interested in our philosophies and systems regarding international tourism.

The article is scheduled to be published in August.
