2012 Tourism Merit Award for Tanabe City Kumano Tourism Bureau
The Tanabe City Kumano Tourism Bureau, was awarded the 2012 "Organization of Tourism Merit" by the Wakayama Prefectural Tourist Federation on May 28th, 2012.
The sustainable tourism philosophy and grassroots initiatives are an outstanding example for other regions in Wakayama and Japan.
"The Tanabe City Kumano Tourism Bureau is a pioneer in community-based tourism in Japan." as quoted by the Governor of Wakayama.
We are thrilled to receive this honor two years in a row and will continue to work towards our mission "to develop and promote Japan's remote spiritual heartland into a quality, sustainable tourism destination open to the world".
The director of our bureau, Tada Noriko, was chosen as the representatives of the awards on behalf of all winners.
