Santiago de Compostela visits Tanabe City
The Deputy Mayor (councillor of tourism) and the Managing Director of the Turismo de Santiago de Compostela visited Tanabe City and the Kumano region for three days from September 23 to 25.
The Tanabe City Kumano Tourism Bureau and Turismo de Santiago de Compostela have been working together with joint promotion since 2008.
It was the first time for them to visit the area and we were very happy to host them.
We visited sites along the Kumano Kodopilgrimage route, such as Takijiri-oji, Takahara, and Hosshinmon-oji. A special ceremony was performed at the KumanoHongu Taisha.
The other two grand shrines of Kumano were also viewed, Kumano Hayatama Taisha and Kumano Nachi Taisha.
Next year is the 400th anniversary of Spanish Japanese relations and we hope to have some fun and exciting programs to celebrate.
Thank you again for the wonderful visit!
