CNN Press Tour

April 26 and 27. Wakayama Prefecture and the Tanabe City Kumano Tourism Bureau held a press tour for a journalist from CNN Travel.

The tour visited sites along the KumanoKodo pilgrimage routes, Takijiri-oji, Takahara,Kumano Hongu Taisha, KumanoHayatama Taisha, and Kumano Nachi Taisha. Hot springs such as YunomineOnsen, Kawayu Onsen and Katsuura Onsen were also featured.
The journalist had been to Japan many times before, but the first time in the Wakayama area.

Thank you very much to the participant and everyone who helped make this tour a success.

In the beginning of April, Air Canada's in-flight magazine enRoute visited the Koyasan and Kumano regions.
The Wakayama prefecture government sponsored the tour and the Tanabe City Kumano Tourism Bureau supported them during their visit.
The tour covered sites covered Koyasan, Ryujin Onsen, Farmer's market in Tanabe, Kumano Kodo pilgrimageroutes, Takijiri-oji, TakaharaKumano Hongu Taisha, KumanoHayatama Taisha, and Kumano Nachi Taisha. Hot springs such as Yunomine Onsen, Kawayu Onsen and Katsuura Onsen were also featured. The focus was on culinary traditions and cultural sites in the area.
