Thailand Government's Tanabe City Technical Visit

From March 10~13, 2014 the Tanabe City Kumano Tourism Bureau was thrilled to host the Thailand Government, Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (DASTA) on a technical visit to our region.

DASTA brought some members from a local community to learn more about community-based tourism and the progressive initiatives of the Tanabe City Kumano Tourism Bureau.

We were happy to share our experiences and we look forward to future exchanges.

Thank you again.

Tanabe Exchange Staff in Santiago de Compostela

In celebration of the Japan/Spain 400 year relationship anniversary, and to deepen ties between Tanabe City and Santiago de Compostela, a momentous staff exchange is taking place.

Last year, 2013 summer, a staff from the Turismo de Santiago de Compostela worked at the Tanabe City Kumano Tourism Bureau.  And for three weeks starting at the end of April a staff from our office is now working in Spain.

This type of exchange between our cities is a great opportunity to share and learn from our mutual experiences as major world pilgrimage destinations.

Thank you Turismo de Santiago de Compostela for taking such good care of our staff!

Tanabe High School Presentations

The Tanabe City Kumano Tourism Bureau's goal of becoming a sustainable tourism destination needs the cooperation and understanding of all stakeholders.

Our community outreach program includes many partners, and recently we were thrilled to be invited to speak about community-based tourism at the local Tanabe High School.

On April 22, Ms. Tada Noriko (Director), and on April 30, Mr. Brad Towle (International Tourism Promotion and Development Director) made presentations to over 300 first year high school students.

Thank you very much for your attention and cooperation, and we hope that our message and vision will be picked up and continued in the next generation.
